I stumbled across Cold World about a year about on my harddrive of all places. Hesitantly I began to watch and after an initial bewilderment and confusion as to whether they we being serious, I settled into to discover it was a real banging riding flick. A compilation of footage from the Ogio team, Cold World is as hilarious as it is downright humbling. About as indie as a snowboard movie comes, the riding is insane and is complimented by a dope soundtrack, although it's certainly not everyones cup of tea. Serious 'gangsta' rap is mixed into dub. And I mean real, reggae dub. A couple of standouts are Stick Me For My Riches by Wu-Tang Clan, Come Around by Collie Buddz and 18 With A Bullet by Pete Wingfield.
All the riders are relatively unknown and hard to take seriously. Obviously midwestern skinny white boys trying to be more 'gangsta' than most real black 'gangstas', they certainly don't take as much piss when it comes to riding. (That said, I don't know how they even manage to ride with the crotches of their pants literally lower than their knees.) I don't know how easy it'll be to actually see this movie considering it's pretty understated, but if you happen to get the opportunity to, give it a go. Although not nearly as much expertise or money has gone into any aspect of Cold World's production as goes into movies like Picture This and That's It That's All, it's certainly just as entertaining.
