The Sandpit

Such an awesome little video. From what I can gather it's an very fine, pretty well seamless stop motion video of various spots in New York City. It's not an animation which I'm still amazed at. The vibrancy and texture makes it look a lot like a tiny model, but the intricacy of every movement and all the people walking around confirms that it is most certainly real footage. Very interesting.

Not sure if you've worked it out or if someone's told you already, but if you were still wondering, it's actually a photographic/film technique called tilt-shift; which gives normal scenes the appearance of miniatures.
It's pretty cool, and I think the mini time-lapse films are a much better use of it than photos.
